ASSISTance: May 2020

General Updates

  • Upcoming Office Closure - Next month, ASSIST Central Services will be closed on Friday, July 3, 2020 in observance of the Independence Day Holiday.

  • ASSIST Stakeholder Input Groups - Last month, ASSIST announced upcoming meetings with several stakeholder groups, which were formed to provide critical feedback on  ASSIST related topics: the ASSIST public website, the former Explore Majors feature, data uniformity across student serving platforms, and web services. Those meetings were held throughout the month of May via Zoom. The next major steps is to review feedback gathered in order to help identify and prioritize ASSIST improvements and future software and policy development. ASSIST is thankful for those who spent time with us on calls over the past month and we look forward to continuing the process!

For Articulation Officers and Data Managing Users

  • Technical Resubmission & Re-review period for CSU GE, CSU AI, and IGETC ends June 10 - For CCC Articulation Officers: in response to requests from community college colleagues, the CSU Office of the Chancellor (CSUCO) developed a pilot resubmission process for courses denied transferability in the previous review cycle that fall into certain categories. The CSUCO sent out instructions for this process, supported by the resubmission of course proposals in ASSIST, on May 13. Please contact the CSUCO directly with any questions you have about the process. If you have technical questions related to submitting course proposals in the ASSIST system, contact ASSIST Senior Articulation Analyst, Ryan Novero. The resubmission window closes on June 10, 2020.

  • 2020-21 UC Transfer Course Agreement (UC TCA) Review Cycle - Also for CCC Articulation Officers: The 2020-21 UC TCA review cycle conducted by the UC Office of the President (UCOP) is now underway. CCCs should submit their courses for review via ASSIST on or before the 25th of their institution’s assigned review month. UCOP sent instructions for the process and each CCCs’ assigned review month via e-mail  on May 7, 2020. For questions about the process, please contact UCOP directly. For technical guidance on submitting courses in ASSIST, please contact ASSIST Senior Articulation Analyst, Ryan Novero.

  • Understanding Effective Terms in ASSIST Including Blank Begin and End Terms - When using ASSIST, users will often encounter course data where the course has a blank under “Date Approved” or “Date Removed,” also known as a blank begin term or blank end term, respectively. ASSIST has the following graphic available to help with interpretation of these listings:
