Development Updates for the New ASSIST System

We would like to update you on the development of the new ASSIST, which will provide a modernized and updated transfer and articulation system for California's public colleges and universities. Significant progress has been made towards this goal in the areas outlined below:

  1. A temporary site to make course transferability lists available for the 2017-18 academic year
  2. A new ASSIST system with an updated public interface for course articulation and transfer planning

The ASSIST Executive Management & Oversight Committee, Technical Advisory Committee and project staff have been actively working with the software vendor to prepare for both the early release of course transferability lists and the new system. During testing of the temporary course transferability tool, the vendor discovered additional needs for further data validation that have led to a delay in the release timeframe for both systems. Updated timelines for the release of both tools will be shared as soon as further information is available.

This does not prevent articulation officers from working in ASSIST, and we encourage users to continue adding 2016-17, 2017-18, and 2018-19 information to the system. Any system solutions will not impact work already completed in the new system.

Additional information about the project will be provided at the CIAC Conference on May 3rd and 4th, and through a series of webinars for all ASSIST users. Please mark your calendars for one of the following times:

  • Tuesday, 5/15/18 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
  • Thursday, 5/17/18 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.
  • Monday, 5/21/18 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.

Webinar registration and further details will be provided seperately.

We understand that delays in the release of the new ASSIST system has a significant impact on all users, and we are committeed to delivering a quality application that will support the missions of our colleges and universities. We will be distributing a survey next week to learn more about how you use ASSIST, what additional information you may need, and what communication-related materials or resources might be useful. Thank you in advance for sharing your feedback.

Please direct any additional questions you may have to help@assist.org.
